Travel News Asia Monday, 19 June 2006

Hilton International has appointed Nils-Arne Schroeder as General Manager of the Hilton Namhae Golf & Spa Resort.

Nils-Arne Schroeder

As General Manager for Hiltons first Worldwide Resort in South Korea, Schroeder will be responsible for assembling the entire management team as well as implementing business development strategies in order to bring the property to launch in October 2006.

The 170 room, comprising suites and villas, Hilton Namhae Golf & Spa Resort is located 290 kilometres south of the capital on a scenic island peninsular that overlooks the Straits of Korea. The resort will feature 8 restaurant & bars, banquet facilities for up to 200 guests, a spectacular flat terrain 18-hole golf course built on reclaimed sea front land (a first for any hotel in the country) as well as an 800 square metre ocean-view spa with outdoor whirlpools and terraces.

The island of Namhae is connected to the mainland by a suspended bridge and is a four hour drive south of Seoul and less than an hours drive from the major domestic airports of Jinju and Yeosu, making it perfect as a destination catering to international meetings as well as a place for quality R&R.

Prior to assuming the reins at Hiltons first Worldwide Resort in South Korea, Schroeder was Director of Business Development at the award winning Hilton Kuala Lumpur. As the flagship hotel for Hilton in the Middle East Asia Pacific region, Schroeder was responsible for and developed  all communication strategies from pre-opening through to the launch of the hotel.

Schroeder said, I am excited to take on my new position as I am convinced that Hilton Namhae Golf & Spa Resort will be the perfect destination; catering to both business and recreation sectors with a panoramic coastal view and Koreas first ever flat 18-hole golf course terrain with ocean views from every green.

Schroeder began his journey with Hilton as Director of Sales & Marketing at Seoul Hilton in 1999 before moving onto the post of Director of Business Development at Hilton Beijing in 2001. He was subsequently posted to Hilton Kuala Lumpur in the same capacity in 2003.
