Jens Bischof named Lufthansa's new Vice President the Americas

Travel News Asia Friday, 19 May 2006

Jens Bischof (40), formerly Senior Manager Project Integration SWISS, has been appointed as Lufthansa's Vice President the Americas, with effect from 1 September. Based in New York, he will be responsible for the entire Lufthansa organisation in North and South America. His remit will cover all operative functions, sales, marketing and the Lufthansa stations.

In his new post, Jens Bischof will report direct to Thierry Antinori, Executive Vice President Marketing and Sales, Lufthansa German Airlines. Bischof succeeds Thomas Winkelmann, who will join the Executive Board of Eurowings AG and simultaneously assume the position of Managing Director of Germanwings GmbH, effective 1 September. After training as a freight forwarder, Jens Bischof took a part-time degree course in business management at Rendsburg College of Higher Education and also received a Master of Management degree from McGill University in Montreal, Canada.

In 1990 he returned to his native city of Frankfurt to join the Lufthansa Group. His first job was in traffic handling at Lufthansa Cargo. From 1994 onwards, Bischof held a number of positions in procurement at Lufthansa German Airlines before being appointed Vice President Corporate Procurement and Supply Management in April 2000.

Since March 2005, Bischof has been responsible for coordinating SWISS’ integration into the Lufthansa Group. Thanks to the swift and successful progress of the tie-up, the remaining project-related tasks will be managed as part of normal operations when Bischof moves to the United States. Jens Bischof is married and has two children.
