More Flights to Paris and Copenhagen as Finnair's Asian Traffic Figures Soar

Travel News Asia Monday, 18 September 2006

Finnair’s traffic to Asian destinations in August grew by 40%, and this growth has contributed to increased demand for flights to destinations in Europe. In response, the airline will be adding a fifth daily departure to Paris from the beginning of November, as well as a fifth daily departure to Copenhagen from January. Both additional services will be operated six times a week.

“Our successful Asian strategy has increased demand for flights to both destinations,” confirmed Petri Schaaf, Vice President, Global Sales, adding that French and Danish business travellers have caught on to the “Home in the evening” concept that is already a popular aspect of Finnair service with local business travellers.

The new flights will be operated using Finnair’s new Embraer jet aircraft, with the planes remaining in Paris and Copenhagen over night. Late evening departures from Helsinki have also been hoped-for by Finnish customers, while the earlier morning departure from Copenhagen offers passengers coming from Denmark especially good connections to flights from Helsinki to St Petersburg and Moscow and other Finnish airport.

The new Paris flights depart from Helsinki at 19.35, arriving at Paris at 21.40. Morning departures from Paris set off at 7.40, reaching Helsinki at 11.40. From Copenhagen, the new departure from January 7 is at 19.45, landing at Paris at 20.25. The morning departure sets off at 6.20, arriving at Helsinki at 8.50.
