Lufthansa Official Airline of Oil Barons' Ball in Dubai

Travel News Asia 5 October 2005

Lufthansa has become the official airline for this year’s Oil Barons’ Ball, a premier social event for the Middle East’s oil and gas industry, which takes place in Dubai in November.

The airline has also committed to the ball’s associated golf tournament - The Pipeline/Lufthansa Classic, which will be played at the Arabian Ranches course in Dubai on November 10, the day following the ball. The tournament is already fully subscribed.

The airline’s backing of the Oil Barons’ Ball comes as it targets the oil and gas sector for its new Lufthansa Private Jet service.

“The oil and gas industry is of very high importance to Lufthansa in the Middle East and our airline is striving to provide the best connections for business travellers to over 45 oil destinations worldwide,” said Uwe Wriedt, Lufthansa’s General Manager and Director of the Gulf and Pakistan.

“Our newly launched Lufthansa Private Jet is aimed largely at oil industry customers who travel often and are time efficient. The creation of Lufthansa Private Jet again underlines the airline’s high-end product portfolio. Lufthansa Private Jet will offer VIP customers from the oil sector an exclusive service which delivers premium quality, flexibility and privacy in the comfort of a space of their own.”

The Lufthansa brand will now be prominent at the Oil Barons’ Ball, which will be held at the Nadd Al Sheba Golf and Racing Club on November 9. The event is being held under the patronage of HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed al Maktoum, President, Department of Civil Aviation, Government of Dubai and Chairman of Emirates.

“By coming on board with the ball, Lufthansa has acknowledged the value of putting its brand in front of an influential audience of over 1,000 senior decision makers within the Middle East’s energy industry,” explained Eileen Michael, Publisher, Reflex Publish M.E. FZ LLC, which organises the Oil Barons’ Ball.

Corporate tickets for a table of ten are priced at US $1,250 while a single ticket sells for US $150.
