Executive moves at KLM

Mr. Peter Somers, currently KLM Chief Information Officer, is to succeed Mr. Ad Rutten as Executive Vice President KLM Engineering & Maintenance (E&M) effective September 1, 2005. Mr. Rutten will be joining Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, where with effect from the same date he will take up his new position as Chief Operations Officer for the Schiphol Group.

Peter Somers began his career at E&M as Regional Director Marketing & Sales, carrying responsibility for the Middle and Far East and Australia. In 1994, he became Program Manager for introducing the 767 fleet to KLMs operations, and then took over as Director Boeing 737 operations. In 1998, Mr. Somers traded in aircraft for engines and became Vice President Engine Services.

At the start of 2001 Mr. Somers was reappointed to a new position, this time as Senior Vice President Engineering & Maintenance responsible for general operations. In this capacity, he headed up negotiations with General Electric, which led ultimately to defining the start of the strategic partnership with General Electric Engine Services in 2002.

In 2004, Mr. Somers left E&M to become Executive Vice President & Chief Information Officer for KLM.

Mr. Boet Kreiken, currently Senior Vice President & Area Manager Asia Pacific will take over as Chief Information Officer. Mr. Kreiken joined KLM in 1985 as a Management Consultant for the Internal Consulting Department. Since then, he has occupied various positions including that of Senior Vice President Pricing & Revenue Management, General Manager KLM Nordic Region and (Deputy) Cargo Manager Europe & Africa.
