Fairy Tale Weddings to become a Reality in Hong Kong

Travel News Asia 17 May 2005

Romance and magic were in the air today as Hong Kong Disneyland, Disney’s first theme park and resort in China, showed how Fairy Tale Weddings are about to become a reality in Hong Kong.

Set to open on September 12 this year, Hong Kong Disneyland will welcome couples to celebrate their nuptials in true Disney style with a personalized Fairy Tale Wedding. Hong Kong Disneyland has already received over 1,000 enquiries from couples interested in holding a wedding at the resort.

“At Hong Kong Disneyland, we believe that “Happily Ever After” must begin with “Once upon a time” where couples can step into their very own fairy tale and fulfill childhood dreams,” Don Robinson, Group Managing Director of Hong Kong Disneyland said.

“Out of all the Disney theme parks and resorts around the world, Hong Kong Disneyland will offer the most unique and culturally enriched wedding experience as we have the distinct advantage of being able to blend the best of Chinese and Western culture. And with a sprinkling of world famous Disney magic, I believe that we have created one of the most magical and one-of-a-kind wedding products in the world.”

Couples celebrating their weddings at Hong Kong Disneyland will delight in the special Disney touches that can be as exciting or subtle as desired. In addition to a western-style celebration, couples can opt for an elegant Chinese-banquet style reception, a feature not available in any other Disney Park or Resort in the world.

The Fairy Tale Weddings will be held at the Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel, nestled on the shores of the South China Sea. The luxurious 400-room hotel, with its Victorian-style grandeur and lush garden setting will offer a majestic backdrop for each fairy tale to unfold.

The Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel’s imposing Cinderella’s ballroom – one of the largest ballrooms in Hong Kong - will be home to elegant wedding receptions, where a sweeping stair case and crystal chandeliers will add to the feeling that the bride and groom are the prince and princess in a fairy tale.

“Guests attending a Fairy Tale Wedding will be astounded by the beauty of our receptions,” Roy Hardy, Hong Kong Disneyland Vice President Marketing & Sales said. “From the elaborate backdrops of fantasy castles in the sky, to the specially crafted table centerpieces and gifts, each feature is designed to make them feel that they are all part of the greatest love story ever told.”

One highlight of the Hong Kong Disneyland Fairy Tale Weddings will be the magnificent multi-tiered Disney-themed wedding cakes. Couples can select from regal cakes such as Cinderella’s Coach or the more fun and vibrant, Minnie and Mickey Mouse.

For the convenience of the wedding party, Hong Kong Disneyland will present three magical Fairy Tale Wedding packages: Crystal, Emerald, or Diamond, which cater to individual budgets and tastes and all feature the unique Disney touch.

Priced from HK$8,888 per table, special highlights of the packages include the services of a Disney wedding coordinator, wedding card design, an evening banquet and a magical stay at Hong Kong Disneyland for the newlyweds, a Fairy Tale wedding cake and Disney-themed background music.

For those looking to personalize their weddings, a selection of “Elegant Additions” are available and include extra special touches such as a guest appearance by Disney friends, live musicians to weave in majestic reception magic, Disney-style live entertainment, customized backdrop and venue set up, Disney-themed desserts, limousine service, expert floral designers and audiovisual equipment.

Guests will delight in the entertainment options available as costumed musicians, singers and artists entertain guests with a repertoire of Disney-themed songs and music. A special appearance by Mickey and Minnie Mouse in their finest evening attire is sure to excite guests.

Hong Kong Disneyland Fairy Tale Wedding photography packages will also present couples with the opportunity to capture and preserve the magic of their special day on film against a backdrop of several romantic and spectacular settings, such as the signature white-lattice gazebo, and Hong Kong Disneyland’s centerpiece Sleeping Beauty Castle.
