New Management Roles at Six Senses Spas

Today Six Senses Hotels & Resorts announced new management roles at its Soneva Gili Resort in the Maldives, and at Six Senses Spas.

Peter Nilsson has been appointed General Manager, Soneva Gili Resort & Six Senses Spa in the Maldives. Peter takes over the lead role at Soneva Gili Resort in the Maldives, following an eight-month stint as resort manger at the Evason Hua Hin Resort in Thailand. His Asia experience has covered almost a decade and been accumulated in locations such as Singapore, East Timor and Vietnam, as well as Thailand.

Peter, a Swedish national, began his hospitality career in his home country and in London, working his way through the ranks in a variety of countries and cultures including Japan, Norway, Singapore and Russia. He accumulated proficiency in several languages during this time. He earned a diploma in Wine Studies and completed several hospitality development courses. His diverse interests include scuba diving, oriental cooking, marine biology and snow skiing.

Anna Keen has been appointed as Six Senses Spas Group Research and Development Director. Anna will move from Group Operations Manager to concentrate on the holistic development of Six Senses Spas. This is a major initiative of the division for 2005. Anna will also lead in the development of Six Senses Spas branded products for professional and retail purposes. She will be responsible for the development of all spa menus and packages.

Anna's previous role encompassed operational support for Six Senses Spas, with Spa Managers reporting directly to her. She was responsible for collating reports and driving the standards and services in Six Senses Resorts and in the Group's managed properties.

Angela Derks is the newly appointed Spa Manager at the Evason Hua Hin Resort and Evason Hideaway at Hua Hin, Thailand. Angela comes to this role following her position as Spa Director for Green Leaf Spa in Bangkok, and brings with her over 13 years of industry experience in design, set-up and running of spas. Angela previously built her own 20-room medical spa on the Gold Coast, Australia, which won the renowned Industry National Spa awards in 2001.

Angela is a Naturopathic Doctor, has degrees in Commerce, Accounting and Health Science, as well as a wide array of health and aesthetic qualifications, including Massage, Reflexology, Shiatsu, Aromatherapy, Laser and paramedical therapies, Micropigmentation and most recently completed a course in Traditional Thai Massage at Bangkok’s Wat Po.

Lyn Thomas has been appointed as Manager, The Spa at Hotel Arts Barcelona. Lyn has joined The Spa at Hotel Arts Barcelona as manger following a tenure at the Brighton Technical College in the United Kingdom, where she was the Hair & Beauty Supervisor. This followed a ten-year period where she operated her own massage business, also in Brighton. Lyn established the business called Relcks, which offered a variety of treatments fro corporate and private clients. She also developed and conducted seminars and workshops focusing on stress management and aromatherapy, plus private teaching courses in the art of massage.

Prior to establishing her own business, Lyn worked with Steiner as a massage therapist on cruise ships, leading to the role of Spa Manager. The two years prior to that were spent in Spain where she worked freelance in massage. She holds qualifications in holistic massage, sports massage, aromatherapy, on-site seated massage and a city and guilds teaching certificate.

Anni Hood is the newly appointed Spa Director at the Six Senses Spa at Madinet Jumeirah in Dubai. Anni has joined Six Senses Spas as Spa Director at the stunning new Madinat Jumeirah in Dubai UAE. She brings ten years of extensive experience in the leisure, health spa and hospitality industry to the role. Prior to joining Six Senses Spas, she worked as general manager of one of London’s best known and largest Ladies’ day spas – The Sanctuary Spa, Covent Garden, in her native Britain.

Helen Merchant has been appointed Project Director, Six Senses Spas. Helen joined the Six Senses Spas division as Project Director, initially based in Mauritius for the Six Senses Spa at Le Telfair. Her role is to be involved in the management and operation of spa division projects and pre-opening and setting up of Six Senses Spas.

Helen holds British nationality and is an ITEC and CIDESCO, and is CIBTAC qualified. She brings much location experience to the role, having worked in Europe, Middle East and Asia in the leisure and hospitality industry.
