Le Méridien to re-open second hotel on Mahé, Seychelles as family resort

Travel News Asia 16 June 2005

Following a USD$12.5 million renovation Le Méridien Barbarons on the island of Mahé in the Seychelles is on schedule to re-open as a new four-star family resort in August 2005.

Located on the west coast of Mahé just 30-minutes from the airport, the tranquillity of the hotel’s surroundings is enhanced by a ‘water’ theme in the lobby area, where a waterfall and the soothing sound of running water provides a calming welcome.

The 124 rooms, all of which have either a balcony or terrace, have been enlarged and redecorated using contemporary interior design combined with local artwork and mosaics in the bathrooms.

The hotel will offer a choice of restaurants, including the new Mangrovia Restaurant with an ‘interactive’ cooking concept. Chefs will prepare a selection of local and international dishes at six separate cooking stations. Alternatively guests will be able to enjoy La Cocoteraie restaurant, which overlooks the beach and a roof top terrace for sunset cocktails and barbecues.

The hotel has a children friendly beach and will be an ideal destination for families. For the first time, Le Méridien Barbarons will provide a Le Méridien Penguin Club with activities from 10.00 until 18.00 for younger guests aged between six and 12 years. Adults can enjoy the new spa facility offering a choice of treatments or the hotel’s other leisure facilities, which include a 25-metre swimming pool with new decking and walkway, tennis courts and mini golf.

A special opening rate of 150 Euros including breakfast per room per night will be available, subject to availability, from opening until December 2005.
