WORLDHOTELS launches New GDS Chain Code - WW for Independent Hotels

Travel News Asia 14 July 2005

WORLDHOTELS has launched a new GDS chain code. The new code, WW, is now the chain code for all the independent hotels which are members of WORLDHOTELS properties, those that do not belong to either Stamford Hotels & Resorts (YS) or the Steigenberger Hotel Group (SR). Previously, the independent hotels had been located under the SR chain code.

This switch is a key component in the repositioning of the company, following its rebranding from SRS-WORLDHOTELS to WORLDHOTELS earlier this year.

All of the nearly 400 individual hotel members of WORLDHOTELS are now switched from the existing SR code to the WW code, while the 70 properties of the Steigenberger Hotel Group remain under the chain code SR.

However, at the same time, agents and corporate bookers will be able to access WORLDHOTELS’ total portfolio of nearly 500 unique properties around the world via the master chain code EW – Exclusive WORLDHOTELS - through all major GDS. The EW code covers all the three other chain codes – WW, SR and YS.

Commenting on the development Michael Ball, Chief Executive Officer WORLDHOTELS said, “The establishment of the WW chain code is one of the final pieces in the jigsaw of completing the WORLDHOTELS brand. WORLDHOTELS is mounting a comprehensive communications campaign to ensure the code switch will be a smooth one, cementing our global character, ensuring distribution around the world and meaning easier access for travel agents.”
