Thai Airways International Increases Flights in Summer Schedule 2005

Thai Airways International is to launch flights to New York and increase international flights during its Summer Schedule, effective 27 March – 29 October 2005.

Mr. Kanok Abhiradee, THAI’s President, said that Thai Airways International has made adjustments to its routenet in accordance with passenger demand during the Summer Schedule 2005 related to destinations: London, Madrid, Stockholm, Frankfurt, Sydney, Auckland, Beijing, Manila, Ho Chi Minh, and New York, U.S.A.

In support of the increase in flights THAI will receive delivery of 4 aircraft, those being 2 Airbus 340-500 aircraft in March and April 2005 and 2 Airbus 340-600 aircraft in June and July 2005.

THAI has also adjusted its domestic flight schedule to destinations such as Phuket and Krabi, resuming normal flight operations on these routes, following a prior decrease and suspension of flights due to a drop in passenger traffic.

New Destinations

- Bangkok-New York v.v.: Operated at 6 flights per week (no flights operated on Monday) with Airbus 340-500 aircraft (effective 1 May 2005 onwards).

The New York route is operated at a flight time of 17 hours non-stop, carrying 215 passengers: 60 seats in Royal Silk Class, 42 seats in Premium Economy Class, and 113 seats in Economy Class. Ticket prices for passengers who issue tickets between 14 December 2004 – 30 June 2005 are as follows:

- Royal Silk Class beginning at 111,000 baht
- Premium Economy Class beginning at 45,000 baht
- Economy Class beginning at 34,000 baht

In addition, passengers who are members of THAI’s Royal Orchid Plus frequent flyer program will receive an addition of 150% miles for travel in Royal Silk Class and 125% miles for travel in Premium Economy Class (offer ending 15 July 2005). ROP members who redeem miles in exchange for an air travel ticket on the route Bangkok – New York v.v. will receive a 25% discount (offer ends 15 August 2005).

Europe

- Bangkok – Madrid v.v.: Increase of 1 flight every Sunday (as of 16 July 2005 onwards), in addition to 4 flights per week to Madrid
- Bangkok – London v.v.: Increase of 1 flight every Thursday (as of 16 June 2005 onwards), in addition to 2 flights per day to London, at a total of 14 flights per week
- Bangkok – Stockholm v.v.: Increase of 1 flight every Wednesday (as of 16 June 2005 onwards), in addition to 5 flights per week to Stockholm
- Bangkok – Frankfurt v.v.: Increase of 1 flight every Thursday (as of 16 July 2005 onwards), in addition to 13 flights per week to Frankfurt

Asia

- Bangkok – Beijing v.v.: Increase of 3 flights every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday (as of 1 May 2005 onwards), in addition to 10 flights per week to Beijing
- Bangkok – Manila v.v.: Increase of 2 flights every Monday and Wednesday (as of 1 May 2005 onwards), in addition to 12 flights per week to Manila
- Bangkok – Ho Chi Minh (Saigon) v.v.: Increase of 1 flight every Friday, in addition to 15 flights per week to Ho Chi Minh

Flight Adjustments

Australia and New Zealand

- Bangkok – Sydney – Auckland v.v. changed to: 
Bangkok – Sydney v.v. (direct flight): 3 flights every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday (as of 16 July 2005 onwards), in addition to 14 flights per week to Sydney. 
Bangkok – Auckland v.v. (direct flight): 3 flights every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday (as of 16 July 2005 onwards), in addition to 10 flights per week to Auckland.
