Kent Maury appointed GM at Renaissance Koh Samui Resort & Spa

Marriott has appointed Kent Maury general manager of the soon to be re-branded 78-unit Renaissance Koh Samui Resort & Spa, located near Lamai Beach, Koh Samui, Thailand. Most recently, Mr. Maury served as regional vice president of sales and marketing for the Asia Pacific region of Marriott International, based in Hong Kong.

“We are thrilled to congratulate Kent on his new position and are excited by this magnificent addition to our resort portfolio in Thailand,” said Geoff Garside, executive vice president for the Asia, Pacific and Australia region.

Comprised of 45 guest rooms and 33 villas, the resort is located approximately 20 kilometers south of the Koh Samui Airport on a secluded beachfront site offering sweeping views of the sea. Samui, one of Thailand’s most rapidly growing resort destinations, is noted for its beautiful beaches, eco tourism development and magnificent natural attractions, including stunning waterfalls.

Additional resort amenities include specialty restaurants, tropical spa, fitness center, two outdoor swimming pools, business center, kids club, and water sports pavilion.

Mr. Maury joined Marriott International in 1974. He has held positions of responsibility in sales and marketing, and previously served as director of sales and marketing for the JW Marriott Hotel Hong Kong. As regional vice president of sales and marketing for the Asia Pacific region, Mr. Maury was responsible for the coordination of all sales and marketing activities as well as developing an overall strategy for the region.

A graduate of the University of Kentucky, Mr. Maury holds a bachelor of science degree in political science.
