Pegasus Solutions launches New RateChecker Service

Travel News Asia 12 March 2005

Pegasus Solutions unveiled its new RateChecker service at the ITB today, providing participating Utell by Pegasus member hotels with a tool to track rates of competing hotels. With a repeating stream of real-time competitive information, hotel staff can instantly adjust rates on available rooms to drive bookings while maximizing profit.

Hotels using the RateChecker service can select particular Web sites to monitor, and identify certain hotels to compare pricing metrics. Hoteliers can also monitor various advance booking rates, and contrast rates for differing lengths of stay to ensure profitable everyday pricing.

“We signed on to the RateChecker trial to proactively manage our rates,” said Andrew Boardman, general manager of Hazlitts Hotel, a four-star property in London’s theater district. “RateChecker contributed to an increase in incremental revenue as we were able to raise our average room rate by £7 per night.”

Independent hotels can choose from one of three service options, depending on their requirements in terms of flexibility and competitive set:

Bronze - the ideal package for small hotels, monitoring 5 competitors from 5 travel Web sites with a weekly data refresh.
Silver - a mid-level package, viewing 7 competitors on 7 Web sites, with data refreshed daily.
Gold - a more flexible package designed for larger hotels in city locations, this level includes real-time monitoring of 10 competitors on up to 20 Web sites.

The RateChecker service can also monitor package deals and multiple-night offerings by hotels, allowing hotel management to view promotions at competing properties that range from two to 30 nights.

“Armed with timely, relevant rate information, independent hoteliers can react fast to changes in the marketplace,” said Peter Fitzgerald, vice president of sales for Pegasus Solutions. “With Pegasus automation keeping an eye on local rates, hoteliers can focus on other revenue generating activities.”
