Malaysia Airlines Travel Fair 2005 to be held 19-20 February

Travel News Asia 10 January 2005

Malaysia Airlines Travel Fair is to hold travel fairs in four key locations in Malaysia - Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Kuching and Kota Kinabalu. The fairs will offer visitors some of the best air travel and vacation deals available.

The travel fairs will be held concurrently on February 19-20, 2005 at Mines International Exhibition & Convention Centre in Kuala Lumpur, International Sports Arena (PISA) in Penang, Permata Exhibition Centre in Kuching and Sabah Trade Centre in Kota Kinabalu. The fair, which attracted a crowd of 120,000 last year, is expected to draw up to 180,000 next month at all four locations.

Announcing preliminary details of the event, Dato’ Rashid Khan, Malaysia Airlines’ Senior General Manager of Sales, Distribution & Marketing said, “Based on the overwhelming support and feedback we received at the fair in 2004, we decided to extend this fantastic opportunity to other key local destinations, to provide everyone a chance to enjoy this unique experience.

“It is part of our continued commitment to develop mutually rewarding relationships with our customers, to reward our longtime supporters by offering the best prices and valued deals for their air travel and vacations, and business partners, by providing them an avenue to promote their value-added products and services directly to consumers.”

A total of 215 leading travel agents of Malaysia Airlines, offering competitive prices for air travel and Golden Holiday packages to various domestic and international destinations, will be participating in this year’s travel fair.

The fair will also see the strategic presence of Malaysia Airlines’ code-share partners, National Tourist Organisations (NTOs) from both Malaysia and overseas, as well as leading 5-star hotels and major sponsors. At the fair, members of the public will also be able to preview some of the national airline’s new products and services lined up for 2005, and a host of performances set to entertain the crowd throughout the two-day event.

Dato’ Rashid Khan further added, “A minimal entry fee of RM2 per person will be charged at each location of our travel fair. Proceeds of this collection will be donated to the Tsunami Relief Fund and other charity organisations as an extension of our ongoing humanitarian assistance to tsunami victims.

“As most of the offers at the forthcoming fair will be valid till 31 October 2005, we urge our customers in Malaysia to take advantage of this opportunity to plan their holiday with us at Malaysia Airlines well in advance, and at the same time get to interface with the brand in fresh and exciting ways.”
