Many hotels claim to among the best in the world, few though are anywhere near the top of the list. The Soneva Fushi Resort & Spa in the Maldives however could quite easily claim such an accolade and few frequent travellers to the luxury property would have any argument.

Opened in 1995, the Soneva Fushi Resort & Spa was the first Six Senses Resort in the world and remains to this day the flagship of the Soneva brand. It has received top awards from almost every major travel publication in the world.

On its own private 100-acre island, the Soneva Fushi is sixty nautical miles northwest of Mal" International Airport. Guest transfers are by seaplane, and the island itself offers immaculate superb white sandy beaches and rich coral reefs.

There are 65 luxury villas - twenty with private pools - plus restaurants and bars, the infamous holistic Six Senses Spa, a tennis court, library, conference room, and a wine cellar with several hundred excellent vintages. Most recently added were six new beachfront Crusoe Suites and five Soneva Fushi Suites plus a second Presidential Suite.
