IATA has appointed Glyn Hughes as Global Head of Cargo. Glyn Hughes joined IATA in 1991 to enhance and expand the Cargo Accounts Settlement Service, growing it from 35 to nearly 100 operations while maintaining very low levels of agency default and decreasing overall operating costs for members.
6. AOT and FMG Looking to Expand Cooperation
FMG, the Munich Airport operating company, and Airports of Thailand (AOT) have reached an agreement to cooperate more closely. The Bavarian-Thai cooperation dates back to the preliminary stages of the successful launch of operations at Bangkok's Suvanabhumi Airport.
7. Bombardier Delivers First Enhanced CRJ900 to American Airlines
Bombardier has delivered the first of 30 enhanced CRJ900 NextGen aircraft to American Airlines. The aircraft will be operated by American Airlines Group wholly owned subsidiary PSA Airlines, Inc. under the American Eagle brand. The purchase agreement for the aircraft, which was announced in December 2013, also included options on an additional 40 CRJ900 NextGen aircraft.
8. Qatar Airways to Launch Direct Flights to Zagreb
Qatar Airways is to launch three times weekly non-stop flights between Doha and Zagreb. The new direct flights, which are scheduled to commence on 1 October 2014, will provide a more convenient alternative to the current daily flights to Zagreb which fly via Budapest before moving onwards to the Croatian capital.
