This month, Best Western starts construction of the Best Western Hotel Newcity Kagoshima in the Yojiro district of Kagoshima City, Japan, with plans for a soft opening in July 2009 and grand opening by October 2009. The Best Western Hotel Newcity Kagoshima will be the second Best Western accommodation in the Kyushu islands.

Japan Air Commuter (JAC) operated its first ATR 42-600 flight on Wednesday. JAC’s flight 3741 departed from Kagoshima at 08:50 (local time) for a 40-minute flight to Yakushima. The aircraft then performed three flights, from Yakushima to Kagoshima, from Kagoshima to Okinoerabu, and back to Kagoshima.

China Airlines has launched Taoyuan-Kagoshima and Taoyuan-Shizuoka flights. Flights operate every Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday, and are serviced by Boeing 737-800 aircraft equipped with eight Business Class seats and 150 Economy Class seats.

China Airlines has expanded its codeshare agreement with Japan Airlines to include a further seven domestic routes in Japan.
