1. Air Niugini to Increase Brisbane, Cairns and Sydney Flights
Air Niugini has unveiled plans to increase the number of flights to and from the Australian cities of Cairns, Brisbane and Sydney effective from - 30th October 2016. The increase in flights has been made possible following recent variations to the Air Niugini and Qantas Codeshare agreement.

Air Niugini is to increase flights from Port Moresby to Manila, Philippines and to both Sydney and Cairns in Australia. 3. Air Niugini to Launch Twice Weekly Flights Between Port Moresby and Micronesia
Air Niugini is to launch twice weekly air services between Port Moresby and the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM) from 3 December 2016. To test the market, three special flights have been planned to operate to FSM before the scheduled passenger services commence.
4. Air Niugini Orders Four Boeing 737 MAX 8s
Air Niugini has ordered four Boeing 737 MAX 8 airplanes, with the first aircraft scheduled for delivery in 2020. Boeing says that the 737 MAX, which incorporates CFM International LEAP-1B engines and winglets, will deliver 20% lower fuel use than the first Next-Generation 737s.
5. Solomon Airlines, Air Niugini and Air Vanuatu to Codeshare
Solomon Airlines has validated a tripartite codeshare agreement with fellow Melanesian carriers Air Niugini and Air Vanuatu. Initially announced in principle last February, the watershed agreement confirming the codeshare was officially signed by the heads of all three carriers at the bi-annual Association of South Pacific Airlines (ASPA) AGM taking place in Brisbane.
6. Solomon Airlines, Air Niugini and Air Vanuatu to Codeshare from 1 July 2016
Solomon Airlines, Air Niugini and Air Vanuatu will commence a long awaited codeshare service linking all three destinations from 1 July 2016. The new service will operate from Port Moresby to Honiara on Fridays, Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays.
7. Sabre Expands Services to Papua New Guinea
Sabre has signed an agreement with Air Niugini to distribute the Sabre global distribution system (GDS) in Papua New Guinea. With this agreement, travel agents will adopt Sabre’s leading point-of-sale solution, Sabre Red Workspace, which delivers a content-rich marketplace integrated with data-driven support tools.
8. Solomon Islands and Vanuatu Sign New ASA and MOU
The Solomon Islands and Vanuatu have signed a new Air Service Agreement (ASA) and Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the two countries. The newly signed ASA and MOU follows last month signature of watershed codeshare agreements between the national carrier and Qantas Airways and also with Air Niugini.
