Paul Cutler has been appointed as Director of Sales and Marketing at the Outrigger on the Lagoon, Fiji and Castaway Island, Fiji. Cutler will be based in Outrigger's new Sydney office. Most of Cutler's employment has been in Australia, with a focus on Asia Pacific hotels and resorts.
109. Best Western Signs 41-Room Hotel in Bhutan
Best Western has signed a management agreement for a brand new 41-room hotel in the Bhutan’s capital, Thimphu. Expected to welcome its first guests in mid-2015, the hotel will join the company’s growing collection of Best Western Plus hotels. The hotel will feature a fitness centre, spa, bar, and a terrace lounge with views across Thimphu’s low-rise skyline.
110. Kempinski to Open Luxury Doha Resort in December
Kempinski has confirmed that its flagship resort - Marsa Malaz Kempinski, The Pearl - Doha - will soft-open on 1 December 2014. The city-resort is located on its own secluded island at the iconic The Pearl-Qatar and offers 281 rooms and suites, with meeting-conference facilities including a 1,100 sqm (11,538 sq ft) Grand Ballroom.
111. Amilla Fushi in Maldives to Open December
The Small Maldives Island Co. will open two island resorts in the Maldives over the next twelve months. Located in the UNESCO protected Baa Atoll, Amilla Fushi will launch in December this year, followed by a luxury beach club concept resort called Finolhu in late 2015.
112. SilkAir to Launch Flights to Cairns, Australia
SilkAir, the regional wing of Singapore Airlines, is to launch direct flights between Singapore and Cairns on 30 May 2015, subject to regulatory approvals. SilkAir plans to operate the Cairns service three times weekly on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays, through circular routings with Darwin.
