According to data compiled by STR Global, hotels in the Middle East/Africa region reported positive performance during September 2014 when reported in U.S. dollars. In September, in year-on-year comparisons, the region reported a 13.1% increase in occupancy to 65.5%, a 1.3% increase in ADR to US$145.12 and a 14.5% increase in RevPAR to US$94.99.

107. Dusit Signs First Hotel in Vietnam
Dusit International has signed its very first hotel in Vietnam. The Dusit Thani hotel will be developed as part of the Cam Ranh Flowers Resort and is scheduled to open late-2016. The beachfront hotel and branded residences will house 266 rooms and bungalows with a further 117 apartments and 56 residential villas available for purchase or rental.
108. Thai AirAsia to Increase Bangkok - Siem Reap Flights
Thai AirAsia will increase its current twice daily flights between Bangkok (Thailand) and Siem Reap (Cambodia) to triple daily from 1 December 2014. To celebrate AirAsia is offering special one way fares from THB 1,790 THB for bookings until 2 November 2014 for travel between 1 December 2014 and 30 April 2015.
109. Hokkaido Air System Becomes JAL Subsidiary
Hokkaido Air System (HAC) has become a subsidiary of Japan Airlines. Late last week, JAL completed a qualifying transaction to hold up to 51.2% of the shares in HAC. The HAC network, including flights to/from remote islands such as Sapporo (Okadama) - Rishiri and Hakodate - Okushiri, is an important part of the Hokkaido transportation infrastructure.

Etihad Airways has launched daily non-stop flights between Abu Dhabi and Phuket, the airline’s second destination in Thailand. A two-class Airbus A330-200 aircraft operates the Abu Dhabi-Phuket sector with 22 seats in Business Class and 240 seats in Economy Class.

Etihad Airways has appointed Mr Dimitrios Karagkioules as General Manager for Thailand. Mr Karagkioules, who has more than 20 years of airline experience, takes up the Bangkok-based role after five years in Athens as Etihad Airways General Manager for Greece.
