169. Emirates to Launch Double Daily Airbus A380 Flights to Mauritius
Emirates will serve Mauritius with a double daily Airbus A380 service from 1 December 2014. This second A380, which will operate as flight EK 703/704, replaces the existing Boeing 777 operation and increases Emirates' capacity on the route by 19%, and allows an additional 165 passengers each day to travel to this beautiful island set in the middle of the Indian Ocean.

171. Emirates to Double A380 Operations to Munich
Emirates’ Dubai – Munich route will become an all-A380 service from 30 March 2014, when the airline deploys its flagship Airbus A380 aircraft on its second daily flight. Emirates’ flights EK49/50 and EK51/52 are currently served by Airbus A380 and Boeing 777-300ER, respectively. The second A380 service will add almost 1,800 seats per week on the route.

Emirates will increase passenger capacity on its Chicago route when it switches from Boeing 777-200LR currently operating the route, to a larger Boeing 777-300ER aircraft. The change will take place on 1 May 2015. Emirates launched its Chicago service on 5 August 2014. Less than a year later, the route has carried 66,000 passengers and 3,410 tonnes of cargo to date.

Over the past 12 months, demand has increased, with some 400,000 passengers having travelled on the route.

Emirates SkyCargo to Increase Capacity by 17%. Emirates currently has a fleet of 129 wide-bodied aircraft, including eight freighters. By the end of the 2008-09 financial year (ending 31st March 2009), that figure will stand at 132, including one Boeing 777 freighter. The carrier will welcome another Boeing 777 freighter in the 2009-10 fiscal year.

Emirates and Thales have signed an agreement to equip its Boeing 777X fleet with the next generation broadband inflight connectivity using the Inmarsat GX global network. Emirates’ Boeing 777X aircraft are due for delivery starting in 2020.
