89. Rolls-Royce Completes US$2.2 billion Trent Order with TAM Airlines
Rolls-Royce has concluded a contract worth up to $2.2 billion at engine list prices, with TAM Airlines of Brazil, to provide Trent XWB engines for Airbus A350-XWB aircraft. The order includes a 12 year agreement for TotalCare long-term services support.
90. MIAT Mongolian Airlines Orders 3 Boeings
MIAT Mongolian Airlines has ordered two Next-Generation Boeing 737-800 airplanes and one 767-300ER (extended range) airplane. The order, valued at $245 million at list prices, marks the first time in more than two decades that MIAT Mongolian Airlines will extend its route network by purchasing Boeing airplanes instead of leasing them.
91. Korean Air Takes Delivery of Two Boeings
Korean Air has taken delivery of its 30th Boeing 777, a 777-300ER (extended range), and its first Next-Generation 737-900ER (extended range). The latter marks the airline's first 737 with the new Boeing Sky Interior.
92. SAS Orders 30 Airbus A320neo Family Aircraft
SAS has signed a firm order for 30 Airbus A320neo Family aircraft, as part of its strategy to streamline its fleet with more fuel-efficient new aircraft. These new A320neos will join the airline’s existing fleet of eight A321s and four A319s, and enable SAS to transition to an all-Airbus fleet at its prime Copenhagen base. The engine decision has not yet been revealed.
93. IHG Sells Hotel Indigo San Diego for US$55.5m
InterContinental Hotels Group has sold the 210-room Hotel Indigo San Diego to Chesapeake (Chesapeake Lodging Trust) for US$55.5 million in cash. IHG will continue to manage the hotel under a long-term management agreement.
94. New World Signs Purchase and Sale Agreement to Acquire Rosewood Hotels & Resorts
Hong Kong-based New World Hospitality hotel management company has signed a purchase and sale agreement to acquire Rosewood Hotels & Resorts, L.L.C., a privately held ultra-luxury hotel management company based in Dallas, Texas, USA, from current owners Rosewood Corp. and Maritz, Wolff & Co.
95. GECAS Orders 15 ATR 72-600
GE Capital Aviation Services (GECAS), the commercial aircraft leasing and financing arm of General Electric, has ordered 15 ATR 72-600s, plus 15 options. The deal is valued at approximately US$680 million at list prices, including options. This is a first-time ATR order for GECAS.
96. Saudi Arabian Airlines Orders More A330-300s
Saudi Arabian Airlines, Saudi Arabia’s national airline, has placed a firm order for four additional Airbus A330-300 aircraft in addition to the eight ordered in July 2008, taking the total order for the type to 12. Saudi Arabian Airlines placed its first order with Airbus in over 30 years in 2007 for 22 A320 Family aircraft and later placed an order for eight A330s.
