Two More Airlines to Join Star Alliance. Star Alliance is expanding its presence in Latin America following the unanimous approval by its Chief Executive Board (CEB), to accept both Avianca-TACA and Copa Airlines as future member airlines.

The Latin American aviation group AviancaTaca Holding, has signed a major contract with ATR for the purchase of 15 ATR 72-600s, plus options for 15 additional aircraft. The deal, including the options, is valued at close to US$ 700 million. The deliveries of the firm aircraft will start in June 2013.

ATR has set-up of the very first ATR '-600 series' Flight Simulator in Latin America. The Full Flight Simulator (FFS) is located at the training facilities of the Colombian carrier Avianca, in Bogota, and has recently obtained certification from both Europe's EASA (European Aviation Safety Agency) and Colombia's UAEAC (Civil Aviation Special Administrative Unit).
23. Avian Líneas Aéreas Takes Delivery of First ATR 72-600 in Argentina
Avian Líneas Aéreas, the new subsidiary of the South American company Synergy Aerospace, has taken delivery of the first new-generation ATR 72-600 to fly in Argentina. The airline intends to start operations of its new ATR -600 series fleet during the first quarter of 2017, commercially branded as Avianca Argentina, following the carrier’s current certification process.
24. Austrian Airlines Secures Six More Airbus A320s
Austrian Airlines has secured six additional Airbus A320 aircraft. The first of the six jets is scheduled for delivery in August. A total of ten additional jets are to replace the 18 Dash 8-400 turboprop aircraft by 2021. Austrian will thus increase its Airbus fleet from 36 to 46 aircraft. As of 30 June 2019, the entire Austrian Airlines fleet consisted of 82 aircraft.
