17. Boeing to Reduce Production Rates of 777 and 787; Stop Making 747
Boeing has announced that it will end production of the iconic Queen of the Skies - the Boeing 747 - in 2022. The airline manufacturer will also reduce the production rates of its 777/777X to two per month, and 787 to six per month in 2021.

The order – a combination of 115 777-9Xs and 35 777-8Xs – also includes purchase rights for an additional 50 airplanes that, if exercised, could increase value to approximately $75 billion at list prices.

Qatar Airways has signed a firm order with Boeing for 10 B777-8Xs and four 777 Freighters. The order is valued at $4.8 billion at current list prices.
21. Boeing Opens First St. Louis Commercial Airplanes Facility
Boeing has opened a composite center at its St. Louis campus. The 424,000-square-foot facility will initially build composite parts for the company’s newest commercial jetliner, the B777X. Boeing has committed more than $300 million in company funds to construct and outfit the center.

Qatar Airways has signed a Letter of Intent to order 50 of the Boeing 777-9X valued at US$ 19 billion at list prices. Of its current 777 fleet, Qatar Airways operates a mix of passenger and cargo aircraft – 23 Boeing 777-300ERs, nine 777-200LRs (Long Range) and five Boeing 777 freighters.
23. Etihad Airways Orders 117 Airbus and 82 Boeing Aircraft
Etihad Airways has confirmed firm orders for 87 Airbus and 56 Boeing aircraft, with a further 56 options and purchase rights. The new aircraft will be powered by 127 GE Aviation, 115 Rolls-Royce and 52 CFM engines.
24. Emirates Converts Boeing 777 Order for 30 787-9 Dreamliners
Emirates has signed a purchase agreement for 30 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner airplanes, valued at $8.8 billion according to list prices. The agreement, signed at the Dubai Airshow, culminates discussions between the two companies on the best 787 Dreamliner model to meet the airline's requirements.
