The Peninsula Hotel Hong Kong is one of the
world's legendary Grand Hotels. Opened in 1928, it has built its
reputation on the finest traditions of service and hospitality. The
Peninsula's new 37 storey extension opened in December 1994, combining
the hotel's heritage with the very best in modern facilities for the
business and leisure traveller.
The new tower rises up from within the site of
the existing hotel in an area that was previously the rear
podium. The new extension adds 132 rooms and suites, making a total of
300, and include 10 floors of prime office space, shops and a range of
new hotel facilities including a swimming pool and sun terrace, The
Peninsula Spa, business centre, banquet and meeting rooms, and Felix,
a rooftop restaurant with panoramic views of the city created by
renowned French architect and designer Philippe Starck.
On the rooftop, twin helipads offer hotel guests
quick and easy access by helicopter to destinations around the
territory. This facility is served by a separate elevator and and
features The China Clipper, a private lounge with reception and
communications centre.
Located on Salisbury Road, Tsimshatsui, The
Peninsula is right at the heart of Kowloon's business, shopping and
entertainment districts. Access to Hong Kong's Mass Transit Railway is
less than one minute's walk from the hotel, enabling guests to travel
to Central (Hong Kong's business district on Hong Kong Island) in
under ten minutes. The star Ferry, a more leisurely way to reach the
Island, is a two minute walk from the hotel, and Chep Lap Kok
International Airport is only a forty minute drive away.
The Peninsula's premier suite, The Peninsula
Suite, is located on the 26th floor of the new tower, offering superb
views of the harbour in the most spacious and luxurious setting. In
the existing building there are five guest floors containing a total
of 105 guest rooms, and 27 suites, while the tower has 11 floors with
141 guest rooms and 27 suites.
The new tower benefits from the recent raising of
the height restriction on the Kowloon peninsula, with all of the new
rooms and suites having totally uninterrupted views of either Hong
Kong Island and Victoria Harbour to the South, or the city and
mountain ranges of Kowloon North to the north.
Among the most spacious in Hong Kong, all rooms
and suites are furnished to the very highest standards of luxury in a
fresh classic European style. Subtle Oriental influences are reflected
in the rich fabrics which follow a varying theme of deep blue or
green, gold and ivory. All rooms and suites enjoy the added advantage
of the most advanced hotel technology available today.
All guest rooms have four International Direct
Dial telephones, marble bathroom with telephone extensions and
"hands free" function, TV & mood lighting; fully stocked
refrigerator and mini bar; radio and colour television featuring satellite
TV; a selection of 40 local and international channels and video
camera replay facilities; laser video/CD players (individual
selection); Star TV; all Hong Kong's local TV channels; and 24 hour
CNN; individually controlled air-conditioning; safe deposit boxes;
private silent fax machines with personal fax number in all suites and
all rooms.
