ANA Group Expands Code-Share with Asiana and Starts New Code-Share with Mexicana Airlines

All Nippon Airways (ANA) received approval from the Ministry of Land Transport and Infrastructure to start code-share operations with Asiana Airlines (Asiana) on Asiana operated flights between Tokyo (Narita), Nagoya, Fukuoka and Seoul. Concurrently, Asiana will code-share on ANA Group airline Air Japan (AJX) operated flights between Tokyo (Narita), Osaka (Kansai) and Seoul. Code-share services are set to begin on April 18.

ANA and Asiana will be expanding their existing code-share to 91 roundtrip flights a week on a total of five routes. A breakdown of the flights between Japan and Seoul is as follows: Narita - Seoul 35 roundtrip flights, Haneda - Seoul 21 roundtrip flights (via Kansai 14 flights, via Fukuoka seven flights/week). On Kansai - Seoul 21 flights a week are planned and seven flights a each week on Nagoya, Fukuoka - Seoul.

The scope of ANA-coded flights doubles to 70 flights a week on four routes (Narita, Nagoya, Kansai and Fukuoka - Seoul) from the current number of 35 flights a week on two routes. Asiana expands its network with 14 additional flights operated by Air Japan in addition to the company's 67 operated flights on four routes for a total of 81 flights a week.

"The expansion of code-share operations between ANA and Asiana further deepens a successful relationship," said ANA President and CEO, Yoji Ohashi. "ANA looks forward to bringing travelers the benefits of more flights and enhanced connections and services to our Asian neighbor".

"We are pleased to extend the Asiana network even further, particularly in anticipation of the Korea-Japan sponsored FIFA 2002 World Cup in June," said Asiana President and COO, Chan Bup Park. Korea is Japan's largest market in Asia and we look forward to supporting economic and cultural ties by providing customers increased travel services."

By providing excellence and convenience in air transport service, both ANA and Asiana aim to be a "Bridge in the Sky" between Japan and Korea.

ANA and Mexicana to Start Code-share

All Nippon Airways (ANA) received approval from the Ministry of Land Transport and Infrastructure to start code-share operations with Mexicana Airlines (Mexicana). The new service will start March 31 on ANA operated flights between Tokyo (Narita) and Los Angeles and Mexicana operated flights between Los Angeles and Mexico City and Guadalajara.

"ANA is pleased to be expanding its international network to North America with its Star Alliance partner, Mexicana," said Yoji Ohashi, ANA president and CEO. "We look forward to supporting increased economic and cultural ties by providing customers with enhanced services.

Over the past five years travel between Japan and Mexico has witnessed an average annual growth rate of 15%, topping 50 thousand visitors in FY2001 alone." Much of the growth resulting from increased demand for business travel and the wealth of resort and historic tourist attractions found in Mexico.

Both ANA and Mexicana are members of Star Alliance, the airline network for Earth. As members of Star Alliance, ANA and Mexicana strive to offer travelers smooth air transportation service with the usual benefits including, through check-in, lounge access and reciprocal frequent flyer programs that qualify toward top tier status.
