JAL'S "FOOTBALL JUMBO JET" TO BOOST NATIONAL TEAM



With the Korea and Japan co-hosted football World Cup tournament starting on May 31, Japan Airlines and its domestic subsidiaries will be staging a special nation-wide campaign in support of the Japanese national football team from April 1 through to June 30, featuring a 747-400 aircraft painted with a special soccer theme livery, commemorative headrest covers on domestic jet seats, and presents of football goods. 

JAL has been an official supporting company of the Japanese national football (soccer) team since 1999 and is boosting national encouragement for the team with this special campaign, focusing on the specially painted 747-400, named the "JAL - Japanese Team Supporter". JAL airport facilities, such as check-in counters, will be decorated with banners urging victory for the national team.

First flight of the "JAL - Japanese team Supporter" 747-400 will be on March 28 as flight JL505 on the Tokyo-Sapporo route.

1. Campaign duration: April 1 through June 30

2. Airlines participating: JAL, Japan Transocean Air (JTA), JAL Express (JEX), J-Air and Ryukyu Air Commuter.

3. Commemorative seat headrest covers will be installed from April 10.

4. Check in counters and boarding gates at major domestic airports including Tokyo and Osaka will be decorated with special banners

5. Domestic cabin attendants and airport staff will wear badges in support of the national team

6. In a special present offer for domestic passengers during the campaign period, JAL will award draw prizes of 2002 official team replica shirts, 2002 soccer balls and2002 models of the "JAL-Japanese Team Supporter" 747 aircraft. Would-be prizewinners need to submit a domestic boarding card with a prize application postcard. A further 10,000 supporters' bandanas will be distributed through a series of lucky draws.
